Barbetgrooming for show
First brush and comb the dog carefully. All mats should be removed. Wash the dog and dry the dog with a blower (at least 2 weeks before a show, otherwise the coat is too soft and has not enough curls).
Ribs: Rounded
Back: Straight with rounded hips and a nice tail set (not too high)
Back-legs: Nice angulations, low hock and rounded big feet
Fore-legs: Straight, also with big round fett with a good angulation to the fore chest.
Under chest: Hair till elbows.
Tail: When the tail is too thick you can remove hair on the top-side of the tail, at the bottom-side you can make it a little bit shorter but not too much; leave it naturally.
Head: Don't cut the hair too short. The forelock should fall upon the middle of the nose. If you wish you can remove the hair from eye-corner till eye-corner. but not too much, just a small part of about 2 cm. You should not see it when the forelock falls over the eyes till the nose bridge.
Cut a nice passage to ears and neck.
Neck: Cut till shoulders and create a nice top line.
Throat: Cut till fore chest short, about 2 à 3 cm; from fore chest till forelegs longer to pronounce the fore chest.
Ears and beard: Leave it long. When the hair on the cheeks (under the ears) is too thick you can remove some hair with the thin-out scissors.
When you have finished wet the dog all-over and let him dry (without a blower) and you will have a natural looking dog.
